Call for 2016-17 Solo Small Firm Executive Council Nominations

boardAre you looking for a way to become more involved in the Solo Small Firm Section? Well, now is your chance! The SSF Section is accepting nominations (self-nominations) for the 2016-2017 Executive Council.

The Solo Small Firm Section is governed by a Council of 12 people and we are currently seeking applicants for the open Council positions. The Nominating Committee must submit a slate of candidates to the Secretary of the Section by April 1, 2016. The slate will be circulated among Section Members no later than April 15, 2016. At that time, Section members will have an opportunity to approve the slate or re-nominate if they feel someone else is better qualified for the position.

The Council meets quarterly at noon at the CBA offices. Attendance in person is preferred, but members can participate by conference call. Any additional work on committees or projects outside the meetings is voluntary, unless related to the specific position held.

The positions to be included on the slate of nominees and the status of each position are as follows:

Treasurer VACANT; 1 year term; Current rep has expressed interest in staying on
Council Member at Large VACANT; 2 year term
Council Member at Large VACANT; 2 year term
Council Member at Large 2 year term; position currently filled (1 more year to serve)
Council Member at Large 2 year term; position currently filled (1 more year to serve)
Board of Governors Rep. 2 year term; position currently filled (1 more year to serve)
CBA YLD Representative VACANT; 1 year term; Current rep has expressed interest in staying on
Blog Editor VACANT; 1 year term  Current rep has expressed interest in staying on

In order to apply, please submit a letter or e-mail to the undersigned no later than Wednesday, March 16, containing a brief statement confirming your status as a Section Member, describing if you have any prior involvement with the Section (which is not a requirement) and explaining why you would like to be a Member of the Council.

You can indicate a first and second choice for a position. If you have questions about the Council, or the duties of a position, please contact Nathan S. Silver, 2015-2016 Secretary of the Solo-Small Firm Section.
