This week we are going to talk personalization and customization with the Casemaker4 My Account menu.
The first option provided in the My Account menu is settings. Clicking this link will allow you to change the Casemaker default settings in favor of your preferences. On the settings page, you will see four tabs. First, the General Settings tab. Here you can choose how many results appear on the screen at a time and what page you land on when you first log in. If you want the system to default to include related federal materials when searching from a state page, as well as when using the Annotator and Citing References tabs. You can choose if your default browsing method is list view or tree view, and if you would like the Notes you type in to be visible on those documents.
The Search Settings tab is next. Here you can select your default search area and data type, number of results per page, and sort order. You can also let the Casemaker4 system know if you want to include unpublished cases in your search results.
The Email and Print Settings tab provides an opportunity to enter an email address to be automatically populated when emailing documents. You can also choose your default document format for printing, emailing, and downloading, as well as the page layout and preference for printing documents or a list of results.
The next option in My Account menu is Profile. Here you can provide some basic personal information for your profile. This makes it easier for our customer service representatives to locate your account in the event you need assistance and allows you to manage your billing information for any paid subscriptions you may be subscribed to. If you are a member of a bar association that provides Casemaker4 as a valued member benefit the billing tab will not be relevant to you as your subscription is paid for by the association.
The Folders, and Client links, as well as the Print Queue link, works, in the same way as the corresponding links in the top Features Toolbar. These links allow you to manage your folders, clients and the documents in your print queue.
The Notes link allows you to view and manage the notes you have added to various documents throughout Casemaker all in one place. Clicking on the citation the note is associated with will bring you right back to the document and your notes.
My Libra Books provides you with the listing of documents you have leased through Libra. Several bar associations and publishers offer materials via Casemaker Libra. (Casemaker Libra will soon be fully integrated into Casemaker4 as well).
You will also see a link for Mobile Application in the My Accounts menu. Casemaker does have a mobile application that you can download to your Android or Apple Device. It is free to use and free to download. To use the application, you will need to register for it. Clicking the link will pull up the registration form. Some basic registration information is needed, such as first and last name, email address, phone number, that kind of thing. Once you have registered you will be provided with a reference code. After you have registered, each time you click the Mobile Application link the reference code will be provided to you. Once you have downloaded the app you will be asked to provide the email address you registered with as well as the reference code you were given. This will link your mobile application to your Casemaker account, storing your search history and allowing you to utilize your folders.
The last few options in the My Account menu are related to services Casemaker partners with. While all of these partnerships are separate subscriptions and costs, many of the companies listed offer Casemaker4 users discounts for their services.
