Signing Out, Features and Radio Buttons! Let’s get started!

Making Sure to Sign Out

Any time that you have logged in to a web page, it is a good idea to log out when you are done, for your security purposes. Casemaker is no exception. In addition, Casemaker offers you another reason to log out. Upon clicking our sign out link you’ll be logged out of the system and provided with a session summary. This is a complete listing of everything you did while logged in, including date and time stamp, and client labels if you performed them while logged in to a client. We highly recommend that you print this page and keep it for your records; because once you leave this screen the information cannot be retrieved. Of course, the searches and documents are stored in your history, but without the indication of when you signed in or signed out so the session summary itself would be lost.

Casemaker Features

On the toolbar above the list of states on the homepage, you will find the Features link. The Features link gives you access to CasemakerDigest and Citecheck, descriptions of our additional services as well as information about what Casemaker covers. You also can find information about our partners and what services they offer. If you are unfamiliar with Casemaker the Features link is a great place to get an idea of all you can do with the service.

Dialing in your search with the Radio Buttons

Below the search bar are a number of radio buttons you can use to select the type of search you are doing. The system will default to a keyword search. If you are searching for a case and know the citation then select the citation option. If you only have the name of one of the parties, the party button is the option you want. If you are typing in a statute cite then make sure to select section. Finally, if you are looking for an unpublished or slip opinion you can select docket number to search using that information.

That is all for this week! We will back with more tips and tricks next week. Thanks again for making Casemaker a Valued Member Benefit.
