Survey — OARC/Malpractice Carrier

by Tali Thomason on January 11, 2017

You may have noticed that the Office of Attorney Registration will this year require lawyers to provide the names of their malpractice insurance carriers when they register.  At first, the intent was to include the name of each attorney’s malpractice insurance carrier in his/her online profile.

Several on the Solo and Small Firm Section Executive Council, and others around the bar, have concerns about the impact on lawyers/SSF’s if their malpractice insurance carrier’s name is public and easily accessible.

While we sort this out, Jim Coyle with OARC has agreed that the name of the insurance carrier will not be published on-line this year, but that it will be made available to anyone who asks for it pursuant to open records laws.

We are asking for SSF Member input on this so that we may best represent you. We’ve developed a 3-question, anonymous survey. Please respond by January 23.

Thank you for your time!

Your Solo and Small Firm Section Executive Council
